Job Description

The City of Benbrook is seeking applications for the position of Field Service I Worker within the Parks Department. This role is essential for maintaining the beauty and functionality of the City's parks and recreational areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute to the upkeep of the landscaping, turf, and rights-of-way. This includes installing, repairing, and maintaining irrigation systems, as well as trimming trees, hedges, and shrubs to ensure that the Parks remain aesthetically pleasing and safe for public use. In addition to landscaping and sports field maintenance duties, the Field Service Worker will perform repairs to lighting and plumbing systems within the Parks. The role may also require welding and fabrication skills for repairs, as well as the removal of trash and debris to maintain the cleanliness of the Parks. This position will also be on call on a rotating basis, and will be expected work special events throughout the year and in all weather conditions. Physical and Environmental Conditions Must be physically able to operate a variety of power tools and equipment. Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 25 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Knowledge, Ability, and Skills Knowledge of the mechanical operation of both light and heavy motorized equipment; common tools, materials and methods used in maintenance and construction work. Mechanical skill required in operation of equipment. Working knowledge of basic construction practices. Ability to operate equipment carefully and safely; follow oral and written directions, make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment; ability to work as a member of a team. Minimum Education, Experience, and Certifications High School diploma or equivalent; Texas Commercial Driver's License or the ability to receive the CDL within the first six (6) months of employment; previous experience which required mechanical aptitude and ability; and familiarity with maintenance techniques. Must submit to and pass a post-offer, non-regulated drug test and thorough background check. EOE
