, or other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Knowledge and experience using lawn equipment to include mowers, weed eaters, trimmers, and power tools. A valid Texas driver's license with the ability to be insured by the college. Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Must have knowledge/experience with commercial grounds keeping. Experience must include lawn care, with knowledge of the care and maintenance of trees, shrubs and ornamental plants. Ability to read and understand written instructions, to understand simple processes and the routine operation of machines. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodations. Preferred Qualifications Two years or more of full-time commercial grounds keeping experience. Special Instructions to Applicants This is a security-sensitive position. Job Duties Job Duty Maintains and keeps the campus free of litter and debris; cleans debris from culverts and area drains; sweeps sidewalks, streets and around trash containers. Maintain lawns by mowing, edging, watering, seeding, fertilizing, raking and disposing of grass clippings, inspecting and spraying for disease and pests. Maintain trees and palms by planting, pruning, transplanting, watering, fertilizing, spraying, and removing dead branches or palm leaves, raking and disposing of leaves, inspecting and spraying for disease and pests. Maintain flowerbeds, shrubs and hedges by planting, trimming, pruning, watering, mulching, fertilizing, spraying pulling weeds and removing debris which accumulates in and ubderneath shrubs/hedges. Prepare flowerbeds for planting and growing annuals. Job Duty Maintain sidewalks and parking lots by making minor repairs using hot and cold asphalt or concrete patch. Maintain grounds keeping equipment by making minor repairs and repporting equipment failures. Work independently without close supervision or work well in a team environment as directed by Grounds Supervisor. Under the direction of the Grounds Supervisor, apply herbicides, insecticides, dormant oil, fungicides and matricides to control weeds, insects and disease on plant life. Use hydraulic sprayer as needed. Under the direction of the Grounds Supervisor, assist with the installation and maintenance of lawn irrigation systems. Job Duty Properly report on-the-job accidents by preparing and submiting required accident report before the end of the day in which the accident occurred. Assist in preparing set-ups or moving furniture for academic spaces as directed by Grounds Supervisor or Associate Director of Building Maintenance. Assist with hanging signs, banners or other types of advertisement used by the college. All tasks performed by Grounds Workers are on a seasonal basis. On days where daily grounds work tasks cannot be performed, Groundskeeper will assist other Physical Facilities maintennace services such as Building Maintenance andMEP / HVAC
