Qualifications:
Texas Operator's License Ability to follow instructions (written and oral) Ability to perform tasks listed below Physically able to lift 50 pounds Ability to use computer and department software programs Ability to comprehend English (written and oral)
Primary Purpose:
Lead person for district grounds crew. Provide expertise and guidance regarding upkeep of district grounds and athletic fields as required.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Communicate with administrators and staff. Assist and advise the Assistant Director of Maintenance (Grounds) with evaluations and appraisals of crew employees. Efficiently schedule, coordinate, instruct and complete assigned tasks to crews. Access work order system, prioritize and complete worker orders. Operate power driven ground maintenance equipment and tractors. Must be able to carry ground maintenance equipment for eight hours. Perform duties as assigned with hand tools for ground maintenance. Advise Assistant Director of Maintenance (Grounds) of any hazardous situations they notice while working on school grounds. Remove hazardous objects from ground while performing their duties, such as broken glass, etc.
Equipment Used:
Tractor and mower, riding and power, gas-powered weed trimmer, blower, edger, sprayer, striping machine, garden and hand tools, posthole auger, and aerator. Light truck or van. Computer.
Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and around moving objects or vehicles. Exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals (herbicides and fertilizer), and loud noises. Frequent district-wide travel.
