Education and Experience :
High school diploma or GED required.--1 year related experience landscaping and grounds keeping or Related experience with a vocational certificate Training in landscape gardening is preferred.--
Knowledge Skills and Ability :
Must be proficient in the operation of power hand mowers, weed eaters, or equivalent tools. Must be able to read and comprehend written and verbal directions for the use of fertilizers and other chemical compounds. Must have valid drivers license Eligible for coverage under CTCs commercial auto and other liability insurance policies.
Essential Functions:
Receive incoming fuel and dip and measure campus gasoline tanks. Perform work in accordance with the provisions of Occupational Safety and Health Act and CTC Safety Policies. Remove snow and ice from walks and steps, remove trash from lawns, streets, walkways, flower beds, hedges, etc., trim grass around walks, curbs, trees, shrubs, and hedges, plant trees, shrubs, hedges, flowers, and other plants as directed, prune trees, mow lawns, trim and/or prune, remove weeds from shrubs, hedges, and flower beds, and remove fallen leaves in the fall. Assist building maintenance or any other department in Facilities Management as necessary. Reconstruct lawns by adding top soil, grading, and seeding or sprigging. Maintain grounds at dispersed CTC sites. Paint and maintain dumpsters on campus and empty all trash cans on campus. Paint and label curbs, post signs, keep physical plant yard clean/maintained, feed and care for ducks. Clean married student housing laundry rooms/grounds/surrounding areas. Any other duties as assigned. Physically able to work outdoors in all kinds of weather. Must be able lift 100lbs
