As a leader overseeing grounds and landscape operations, you will play a vital role in ensuring the university's outdoor spaces—from daily-use areas to recreational and athletic fields—are safe, functional, and visually engaging. Your leadership will directly support campus life by creating spaces where learning, connection, and community can thrive. Supervises and coordinates the activities of Grounds staff on landscape projects, including scheduling, training, and leadership. Recommends actions to resolve problems related to landscape projects and develops ways to improve the scope and quality of services. Plans and supervises a team of Groundskeepers. Assists in planning snow removal operations and makes personnel assignments for operating snow removal equipment. Implements record-keeping procedures and manages applicable department records on employees, equipment, and maintenance activities. Collaborates and works with the Athletics Department to accommodate the needs of their programs. Oversees the operations and maintenance of light and heavy tractors, trucks, and stationary equipment. Ensures that Groundskeepers follow all safety policies and procedures and that staff are fully trained in all phases of Grounds operations and maintenance. Performs other job duties as assigned. Associate degree and two years of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling four years. Valid Utah driver's license required at time of employment. Knowledge of the sports field maintenance. Knowledge and ability to read blueprints. Knowledge of applicable safety procedures. Knowledge of principles and practices of landscape, planting, pruning, mowing, weeding, etc. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Ability to operate light and heavy equipment. Ability to follow written and verbal procedures and instructions. Ability to work fluctuating shifts to accommodate game times.
