- Planting & Fine Gardening Garden Girls Nursery, LLC | Salt Lake City, Utah Garden Girls Nursery is seeking a dependable, hardworking Landscape Gardener with strong planting knowledge and a genuine interest in horticulture, gardening, and beautiful landscapes.
This is a hands-on field position for someone who enjoys working outdoors, understands proper planting practices, and takes pride in detailed, high-quality work. We are looking for someone who can work efficiently as part of a team while also recognizing what needs to be done without constant direction. Responsibilities Plant trees, shrubs, perennials, ornamental grasses, and groundcovers Understand proper planting depth, spacing, soil preparation, and root care Assist with bed preparation, soil amendments, mulching, and garden renovation Identify common landscape plants and understand their basic care requirements Perform pruning, deadheading, weeding, cultivating, and seasonal garden care Assist with landscape installations and maintenance projects Move and place plant material according to landscape plans and supervisor direction Assist with irrigation checks and basic watering needs Load, unload, and organize plants, soil, mulch, tools, and materials Safely use hand tools and landscape equipment Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites Protect existing landscapes, client property, and plant material Communicate concerns about plant health, irrigation, or site conditions to the supervisor Work cooperatively with crew members to complete projects efficiently and beautifully Planting & Horticultural Knowledge The ideal candidate should have experience with: Proper planting techniques Plant identification Perennials, shrubs, ornamental grasses, groundcovers, and trees Soil preparation and amendments Mulching and bed preparation Basic pruning and plant care Watering requirements and establishment of newly planted material Recognizing common plant-health concerns Seasonal landscape maintenance Previous nursery, gardening, landscape installation, or horticulture experience is strongly preferred. What We Are Looking For The right person will be: Dependable and punctual Hardworking and physically capable Detail-oriented Willing to learn Positive and respectful Comfortable working outdoors in changing weather conditions Able to follow detailed instructions Able to work efficiently without sacrificing quality Comfortable taking direction from a foreperson or supervisor A strong team player Someone who takes pride in leaving a property better than they found it Tools & Physical Requirements Applicants should be comfortable: Using shovels, rakes, pruners, wheelbarrows, hoses, blowers, and common landscape tools Lifting and moving plants, soil, mulch, and landscape materials Bending, kneeling, digging, lifting, and working on their feet throughout the day Working in outdoor conditions throughout the landscape season Performing physically demanding landscape work safely and efficiently Experience with additional landscape equipment is a plus. Driving Reliable transportation to and from work is required. A valid driver's license and clean driving record are preferred, particularly for candidates who may assist with company vehicles or material transport.
