This could be the job for you! Responsibilities Safely utilize a chainsaw to cut wood and brush Safely utilize chippers to dispose of brush Load heavy wood onto trucks and trailers (both by hand and with machines) Assist the climber(s) in rigging branches and large would from trees Utilize other equipment (i.e., rubber track machine, stump grinder, etc.) to facilitate a job's efficient completion Assist in cleaning up the site at the end of the job (i.e., raking and removing debris generated from the job) Previous experience in tree service, logging, landscaping, or a similar field is required, as well as experience with chainsaws and chippers . We do provide some on-job training, yet there must be a foundation of some knowledge and skill. Preferred Skills & Experience Experience driving manual transmissions and/or large trucks is preferred; having a CDL is a plus. Past experience in tree climbing is a bonus, but not required. Must be willing to work as a part of a team and learn new skills. Previous experience with various rigging techniques is also a bonus, but as with climbing experience, is not required. A valid driver's license is required, as well as reliable transportation. Drug Screening A clear drug screening may also be required within three months of beginning employment; failure to complete this drug screening may result in termination of employment. Ongoing drug screenings may also be required throughout time of employment, at random intervals; again, failure to complete these drug screenings in the allotted timeframe may result in termination of employment. The cost of the drug screenings will be covered by the company. Work Schedule & Location Our work schedule varies based upon job location, weather, and time of year. Typically, a work day totals 6-8 hours. At times, Saturday work may be made available to you (for instance, if we are in a busy season or missed working some weekdays due to weather or holidays), but it is never required. Start time is not always first thing the morning, as it may have to be adjusted based on weather or the customer's needs. We work all across the Roanoke Valley, at Smith Mountain Lake, in Craig County, and in the New River Valley.
