Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated Building, Grounds Maintenance, and Apartment Repairs Technician to join our facilities team. This role is essential in ensuring the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of residential properties by performing comprehensive maintenance and repair tasks across building interiors, exteriors, and grounds. The ideal candidate will possess a basic skill set in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, demonstrating a proactive approach to maintaining standards of property care. Duties Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on building systems including some electrical knowledge, plumbing systems, and carpentry skills. Conduct repairs and troubleshooting of electrical systems using schematics and tools such as ohmmeters; repair or replace electrical wiring, outlets, switches, and fixtures. Execute plumbing repairs including leak detection, pipe repairs, fixture replacements, and maintenance of plumbing systems. Carry out carpentry tasks such as door/window repairs, cabinetry work, drywall installation, and painting to maintain interior aesthetics. Operate hand tools and power tools safely for various repair tasks; utilize welding skills when necessary for structural or equipment repairs. Maintain grounds by performing landscaping tasks, grounds cleaning, and exterior repairs to uphold property appearance. Supervise or assist with projects requiring leadership or coordination with contractors; ensure compliance with safety standards and building codes. Support residents by responding promptly to maintenance requests with professionalism and courtesy. Qualifications Proven experience in building maintenance including electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and facilities equipment maintenance. Proficiency with hand tools, electrical equipment repair tools such as ohmmeters, and familiarity with CMMS software. Knowledge of maintenance painting techniques for residential interiors; experience with residential painting is preferred. Ability to read technical schematics and understand building interior systems for effective troubleshooting. Excellent customer service skills with a professional demeanor when interacting with residents or team members. Supervising or leadership experience is advantageous for coordinating projects or mentoring staff. Good communication skills in English; ability to document work accurately and follow safety procedures diligently.
