Job Description

Westosha Central High School is looking for a full-time, twelve-month outside custodian. Duties
  • Care for school grounds including mowing, edging, and trimming of landscaped spaces.
  • Provide necessary maintenance for turf, flowers, shrubs, and trees through planting and pruning.
  • Prepare and maintain athletic fields.
  • Ensure walkways and parking lots are clear of snow, ice, leaves, and debris.
  • Perform routine inspections of facilities to identify potential hazards and repair requirements.
  • Safely utilize and upkeep district equipment, including blowers, mowers, and snow removal tools.
  • Keep detailed maintenance logs and notify the facilities director regarding essential facility repairs.
  • Carry out general custodial or maintenance assignments as directed. Qualifications
  • High school diploma, post secondary training or work experience preferred
  • Three to five years experience in building maintenance, including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC work
  • Experience working in building and grounds maintenance, including outdoor tasks such as landscaping, snow removal, basic repairs, and general site upkeep
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain insurability under the district's insurance policy
  • Knowledge of occupational and safety precautions involved in maintenance and the school setting
  • Ability to effectively and positively interact with staff, students, contracted service workers, and the general public
  • Secure a Valid Wisconsin certified pesticides applicators license, specifically for Turf and Landscape (Commercial Cat. 3.0), within the initial six months of hire and keep active for the duration of employment. Work Hours
  • First shift; eight (8) hours per day (6:00 am - 2:30 pm, but hours will be altered for snow removal in the winter)
  • Twelve (12) month contract Pay Rate
  • $24-$26 starting pay; hourly wage rate will be adjusted based on experience
