Job Description
Job Summary The Pest Control and Chemical Spraying Technician is responsible for inspecting, treating, and maintaining residential, commercial, and common-area grounds to control pests, weeds, insects, rodents, and other unwanted infestations. This position supports clean, safe, and well-maintained properties by applying pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, and related chemicals in accordance with company procedures, label instructions, and applicable safety regulations. Responsibilities Inspect landscaped areas, lawns, trees, shrubs, and grounds for signs of pests, weeds, disease, or chemical treatment needs. Apply pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, fertilizers, and other approved chemicals using sprayers, spreaders, foggers, dusters, and related equipment. Mix, load, and handle chemicals according to product labels, safety data sheets, and company standards. Identify pest activity, weed growth, and landscape maintenance concerns, then recommend appropriate treatment plans. Maintain accurate records of inspections, applications, chemical usage, service dates, and areas treated. Operate and maintain spraying equipment, hand tools, pumps, hoses, protective gear, and company vehicles. Follow all safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment. Post required notices or warning signs after chemical applications when applicable. Communicate professionally with supervisor regarding service needs and treatment results. Report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, chemical spills, or environmental concerns immediately. Assist with general grounds maintenance duties as needed, including minor cleanup, weed control, and debris removal. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Prior experience in pest control, grounds maintenance, landscaping, janitorial maintenance, or chemical spraying preferred. Reqirred pesticide applicator licenses or certifications. Knowledge of safe chemical handling and application practices preferred. Valid driver's license may be required. Ability to read and follow product labels, written instructions, safety procedures, and work orders. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and lift throughout the workday. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment for extended periods. Ability to operate sprayers, spreaders, hand tools, and motorized equipment. Exposure to outdoor weather, chemicals, insects, dust, and landscape debris. Work Environment Work is performed primarily outdoors on residential, commercial, or community grounds. The position may involve exposure to chemicals, fertilizers, pests, loud equipment, and changing weather conditions. Proper safety protocols and personal protective equipment must be used at all times.
