Under the direction of the Citrus Supervisor or Foreman, this position is responsible for applying pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides to citrus trees using hand spray equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for working with safety in mind. Citrus Hand Sprayer will be responsible for wearing all assigned PPE which includes: Safety gear for the chemicals that are being sprayed, goggles, respirator, gloves, boots, helmet, and coveralls in accordance with Company Safety Policies and Procedures. Responsible for the proper use, maintenance and care of all assigned safety equipment and tools. Responsible for having knowledge of which types of nozzles to use according to job site characteristics, type of material being applied, wind direction and velocity, plantings and terrain. Will fill sprayer tanks with water and chemicals according to formulas. Responsible for the proper application of material to trees using hose, nozzle, spray truck, spray agitators or pump and portable spray equipment. Will clean and maintain all equipment and systems to ensure they are functioning properly. Responsible for minor repairs to hose our couplings. Responsible for loading and unloading trucks containing equipment, tools and supplies. Responsible for driving and cleaning rig. Provide excellent customer service. Must be flexible. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (General Equivalency Diploma). Three to six month's related experience and/or training; Agriculture industry preferred. Ability to read, write and speak with customer in English, bilingual (in Spanish) preferred. Language Skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor. Ability to read and recognize hazard signs. Mathematical Skills
  • Basic math skills and the ability to use weight and volume measurements such as measuring cups and scales.
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members. Ability to read and recognize hazard and safety signs. Valid, non-restricted California Driver's License with a clean driving record. Must be able to pass a health exam confirming fitness to wear a respirator and other PPE. Must participate in cholinesterase monitoring as required for pesticide handlers. Ability to lift and drag a 375-foot hose filled with liquid across uneven ground for extended periods. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Regular walking, standing, reaching, and occasional climbing or balancing.
