We are seeking a Surgery Suite Assistant/Transporter to join our team in Fort Wayne. This role is vital in ensuring the safety and care of animals whether they are in the surgical suite or traveling. Responsible for keeping kennels clean, lifting & crating animals, hygiene breaks and ensuring the safe recovery and transport of the animals in your care, your contributions will directly impact the lives of both pets and people. Responsibilities Ensure the comfort and safety of animals during transport in Allen and surrounding counties. Assist in loading and unloading animals from vehicles. Maintain accurate records of transportation activities. Communicate effectively with staff regarding pet needs during transit. Follow all safety protocols to ensure the well-being of animals before and after surgical procedures. Provide basic care for animals, including feeding, hygiene breaks, and kennel cleaning. Support OR efforts by working directly with Vet Assistants and Technicians to support surgical operations. Who you are Animal lover that thrives in a fast paced environment. Flexible and willing to adapt to changing organizational and department needs. Comfortable around surgical procedures including but not limited to - intubation, spay/neuter procedures, needles, and anesthesia. Qualifications High school diploma/GED equivalent Proven experience in patient care or animal handling is preferred. Experience with animal transport is highly desirable. Familiarity with Allen and surrounding counties is a plus. Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team. Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
