Job Description

DISTRICT 03 - MAINTENANCE - ST. LANDRY PARISH JOB NUMBER
03-50695904-RDHA-06042026-DS This is a promotional opportunity for current permanent classified DOTD employees only. The overall function of this position is to provide DOTD with well-trained, government-certified herbicide applicators to be utilized throughout the state in the proper application of a variety of chemicals within a wide range of geographic landscapes in assigned parish(es) of Louisiana. While in an official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives. Job Duties:
Operate spray truck or other spray equipment (may have GPS navigation system) to maintain roadside vegetation along state highway Responsible for measuring/mixing proper amounts of appropriate herbicides as needed. Operate power and hand tools in the removal of trees, tree branches and other vegetation that may be causing obstruction for motorist. May be required to perform other duties as necessary, including, but not limited to, emergency/disaster support activities.

Appointment Type:
Promotional, open only to current permanent classified employees of DOTD Requires a Louisiana Class "A" CDL License and current Herbicide Equipment Applicator License issued by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture before appointment. Requires random drug testing. Required to work in all types of inclement weather and conditions.
