About this Position Responsible for all aspects of maintenance and upkeep of the OSU Department of Wellness athletic fields and grounds as well as all associated equipment. This includes management and supervision of athletic field maintenance staff. Duties to include mowing, field lining, aerating, verticutting, sweeping, topdressing fertilization, irrigation repair, and winterizing facilities and machinery. Maintain detailed records of inventory, maintenance, fuel, and repair records, and develop and maintain a regular schedule of equipment maintenance and cleaning. Repair equipment as necessary and turn in warrantied work for reimbursement. Perform general maintenance in Department of Wellness facilities. This position is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 75 pounds occasionally. Required Qualifications High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date) One year of general office experience. One year of prior successful work experience maintaining athletic fields. Post-secondary education may be substituted for years of experience. Certifications, Registrations, and/or
Licenses:
Valid driver's license, Pesticide Applicator license within six months of hire. Skills, Proficiencies, and/or
Knowledge:
Must be proficient with lawn care equipment. Must possess basic knowledge of computers/internet. Basic knowledge of plumbing and carpentry. Knowledge of turf grass and pesticides with previous application experience. Knowledge in the safe mechanical operation and calibration of mechanical equipment, hand operated as well as pressurized spray equipment, lawn mowers, weed-eaters, utility tractors. Knowledge of aerating, verticutting, sweeping, topdressing fertilization and irrigation repair. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work place. Knowledge of field paint spraying for sporting events. Preferred Qualifications Associate's Turf Management or related field 3 years of related job experience.
