Job Description

Job Summary Pond & Lake Managers / Aquatic Technicians perform a wide range of services related to the management and maintenance of farm ponds, stormwater ponds, ornamental ponds, and small lakes. Responsibilities include the installation, maintenance, and repair of aeration systems; shoreline vegetation management; aquatic herbicide and algaecide applications; nutrient inactivation treatments; pond dredging; and other pond and lake management services as needed. This role requires a hands-on approach, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining healthy, functional aquatic ecosystems while delivering exceptional service to our clients. Roles and Responsibilities Implement and maintain Stormwater Control Measures (SCMs) and Best Management Practices (BMPs). Operate a company-provided vehicle to perform and complete scheduled treatment and maintenance services. Apply herbicides to control invasive and nuisance aquatic vegetation in accordance with applicable regulations and company standards. Treat and remove nuisance algae growth using approved management techniques. Perform proactive applications of biological products to support long-term water quality and ecosystem health. Conduct physical shoreline vegetation management using heavy equipment, string trimmers, and other specialized tools. Maintain accurate records of all pesticide applications in compliance with regulatory requirements. Accurately document site visits, treatments performed, products used, and observations in company reporting systems. Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development as new products, technologies, and equipment become available. Equipment Routinely Used Backpack / Tank Sprayers Boats / Trailers Handheld Trimmers Power Tools Hand Tools Company Vehicles Heavy Equipment Requirements / Education / Experience College degree or educational background in Environmental Services, Environmental Science, Biology, Natural Resources, or a related field preferred. High school diploma or GED required. Certified Pesticide Applicator License (Category 9) preferred. Experience in pond and lake management, aquatic ecosystem management, or stormwater control maintenance preferred. Experience with, or certifications related to, aeration system installation, repair, warranty service, and maintenance preferred. Ability to lift 50-80 pounds and perform physically demanding work on a daily basis, including boating, driving, landscaping tasks, and extended periods of walking and standing. Comfortable working in and around water under a variety of weather and environmental conditions, including muddy terrain, steep or slippery slopes, poison ivy exposure, and encounters with wildlife such as bees, snakes, turtles, and fish. Ability to work independently, manage client pond and lake service needs, and communicate clearly and professionally with clients and team members. Ability to thrive in a small-business environment where reliability, accountability, and dependability are essential to team success. Demonstrates professionalism, respect, and a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
