Job Description

Ready to Start Your Career with the City of Temple? Summary A landscape spray technician is responsible for the application of fertilizers and herbicides within the parks system, along rural roadsides, and other City properties that require treatment. Able to obtain or has a current license with the Texas Department of Agriculture chemical applicator's license appropriate for non-commercial. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs the chemical and fertilizer applications at assigned properties Monitors landscape health and care needs Measures out the proper amount of chemicals for different applications and applies treatment as needed Operates, maintains, and cleans chemical application equipment Creates and maintains records of all chemical applications Follows all state guidelines for chemical application, handling, and storage Maintains adequate inventory of all needed supplies Follows spray schedule and assists with the updates on the schedule Continues to take education courses necessary to keep license current and submit renewal documentation as required by the state Supports special events, both City and private, and assists with the staging, set up and take down Ensures safety procedures are followed on the job site Follow all safety policies and procedures Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent Working knowledge of chemical and fertilizer applications to landscape areas Preferred Qualifications Two (2) years of experience with chemical and/or fertilizer applications including equipment calibration and use, reading labels and calculating correct application rates Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid Texas Department of Agriculture non-commercial applicators license or ability to obtain license within six months of employment Valid driver's license CDL (preferred) Thank you for your interest in the position.
