Job Description
Horticulturist & Groundskeeping Manager National Management Resources has provided facilities management services for over 40 years. We work in educational settings, including K-12 facilities, boarding schools, colleges, and universities all over the country. We offer competitive wages. The Horticulturist & Groundskeeping Manager will be responsible for curating and maintaining landscapes that highlight Alabama's native flora. This role requires expertise in native plants, landscape management, and leadership to maintain a thriving, environmentally friendly property. Supervising and training staff will also be a responsibility.

Design and maintain native plant gardens, ensuring they thrive in Alabama's climate and soil conditions. Lead, train, and manage the groundskeeping crew, fostering a strong understanding of native plant care. Develop and implement sustainable landscaping practices. Monitor plant health, diagnose issues, and apply pest/disease management solutions. Ensure proper irrigation and soil management techniques suited for native plants.. Manage budget and inventory for landscaping materials and supplies. Respond to weather-related or emergency groundskeeping needs.- Perform, monitor, and manage tasks such as irrigation, tree removal, trimming, plumbing, parking lot maintenance, and consult with contractors to determine extent of service required and schedule work to have minimal impact on daily operations of facilities.
- Select, purchase, and monitor application of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides.
- Consult with Director, grounds maintenance professionals and other staff to assess campus grounds maintenance needs.
Horticulturist & Groundskeeping Manager Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Landscape Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field (preferred).
