The Role The Head Grower is responsible for overseeing all cultivation operations within the cannabis grow facility, ensuring healthy plant development, maximizing yields, maintaining regulatory compliance, and leading the cultivation team. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong horticultural knowledge, cannabis cultivation expertise, and the ability to manage daily grow operations in alignment with company goals, quality standards, and Michigan cannabis regulations. The Head Grower will direct all phases of cultivation, including propagation, vegetative growth, flowering, harvest coordination, environmental management, nutrient programs, pest management, and staff supervision. Job Responsibilities Cultivation Operations Oversee all aspects of cannabis cultivation operations from propagation through harvest. Develop and implement cultivation schedules to ensure continuous production cycles and maximize canopy efficiency. Monitor plant health, irrigation, nutrient regimens, lighting, environmental controls, and integrated pest management (IPM). Maintain optimal environmental conditions including temperature, humidity, VPD, CO₂ levels, and airflow. Identify plant health issues and implement corrective action as needed. Coordinate harvest timing and post-harvest handoff to processing teams. Facility and Compliance Management Ensure cultivation operations comply with all Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA) regulations and company SOPs. Maintain accurate records related to plant movement, waste disposal, nutrient applications, and pesticide use. Ensure compliance with Metrc tracking requirements. Monitor sanitation standards and maintain a clean, safe, and organized cultivation facility. Assist in preparation for inspections, audits, and regulatory reporting. Team Leadership Supervise, train, and mentor cultivation staff on daily tasks and cultivation best practices. Assign daily work schedules and ensure completion of cultivation activities. Monitor team performance and provide coaching to improve productivity and plant care standards. Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Inventory and Resource Management Manage inventory levels of nutrients, cultivation supplies, and equipment. Forecast supply needs and coordinate purchasing recommendations. Monitor crop performance metrics, yields, and labor efficiency. Assist leadership with cultivation planning, production forecasting, and operational improvements. Required Qualifications, Experience, and Skills Minimum 3-5 years of cannabis cultivation experience in a leadership capacity Strong understanding of plant biology, nutrient management, irrigation systems, IPM, and environmental controls Previous experience cultivating in both indoor commercial facilities and in greenhouse operations is a must! Experience managing cultivation schedules in an indoor grow environment Knowledge of Michigan cannabis compliance regulations and Metrc Proficient with the use of Excel and/or cultivation tracking software Ability and willingness to work 40+ hours per week Excellent oral and written communication skills High level of integrity and desire to achieve success Must be 21 years of age or older Must be able to pass a background check Must have a valid driver license and reliable transportation •Applicant must have previous experience using METRC.
