Schedule:
Full-Time (Approximately 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays as needed) Hiring two shifts - AM shift and PM shift. Position Summary Critter Barn is seeking a dedicated and dependable Lead Livestock Supervisor to oversee the daily care, health, and management of our farm animals while leading chore teams and livestock staff. This position serves as a key leader within our animal care department, ensuring excellent animal welfare, efficient farm operations, and a safe, clean environment for guests, volunteers, and staff. The Lead Livestock Supervisor works directly with the Livestock Operations Coordinator and the opposite shift Lead Livestock Supervisor to ensure seamless animal care coverage throughout the day. This role provides direction and support to Farm Crew Leaders, Farm Interns, part-time livestock staff, and youth chore volunteers. Primary ResponsibilitiesAnimal Care & Welfare Ensure exceptional daily care of all livestock and farm animals. Monitor animal health, behavior, and wellbeing. Administer medications, treatments, and supplements according to established protocols. Respond appropriately to animal emergencies and health concerns. Maintain accurate animal health and treatment records. Participate in an on-call rotation for animal emergencies. Team Leadership Lead daily chore operations and livestock care activities. Assign and delegate tasks to livestock staff, interns, and volunteers. Provide coaching, training, and accountability to team members. Model professionalism, teamwork, and a strong work ethic. Ensure chores are completed safely, efficiently, and to Critter Barn standards. Farm Operations Create and oversee daily livestock task checklists. Ensure feed, water, bedding, and housing needs are consistently met. Monitor barn cleanliness, organization, and appearance. Conduct routine facility and equipment inspections. Communicate maintenance needs and work alongside facilities staff to ensure repairs are completed. Inventory Management Monitor feed, hay, bedding, medication, and livestock supply inventories. Maintain accurate inventory records. Notify the Livestock Operations Coordinator when supplies need to be ordered. Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing farm supplies. Recordkeeping & Technology Maintain accurate records in Farmbrite and other farm management systems. Document animal treatments, births, deaths, transfers, and health concerns. Track completion of daily chores and operational tasks. Collaboration Work closely with the Livestock Operations Coordinator to prioritize animal care and farm operations. Coordinate with the opposite shift Lead Livestock Supervisor to ensure consistency between AM and PM operations. Collaborate with programming, facilities, and guest experience teams when animal-related needs arise. Qualifications Experience caring for livestock, farm animals, or agricultural operations. Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to make sound decisions independently. Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and flexible hours as needed.
