Job Description
We're looking for an Nursery Manager to help lead the day-to-day operations of our native plant nursery, with a strong focus on customer experience, staff leadership, and operational organization. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys managing a team, keeping operations running smoothly, and helping customers. A genuine interest in native plants and willingness to learn are important, but specific plant knowledge is not required. You be leading a team with varied garden backgrounds, and receive necessary training over time. Responsibilities The Nursery Manager will oversee in-person retail and online order fulfillment, support and supervise staff, and help ensure the nursery is clean, organized, and inviting. This person will assist the Operations Manager with staff training, inventory organization, opening and closing procedures, and seasonal planning. This is a hands-on outdoor role. The Nursery Manager will spend a good amount of time outside helping care for plants, watering, organizing, and making sure the nursery looks healthy, attractive, and easy to shop. They should be comfortable working in varying weather conditions. Additional responsibilities include helping customers select plants, identifying when plants need attention, and coordinating tasks with the team. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate has experience managing people in a retail or customer-facing environment. They are dependable, organized, proactive, and comfortable leading by example. They should be able to motivate a team, communicate clearly, solve problems calmly, and create a positive experience for both customers and employees. The right person should enjoy being outside, and creating a retail environment that feels beautiful, organized, and inspiring.
Qualifications Strong candidates will have:
Retail management or supervisory experience Experience with POS systems Team leadership and staff training experience Strong organization and communication skills Ability to multitask in a busy, seasonal environment Comfort working outdoors and on your feet for extended periods Willingness to help with watering, plant care, and nursery upkeep Ability to notice when plants, displays, or customer areas need attention Interest in plants, gardening, landscaping, or horticulture Preferred but not required: Nursery, garden center, or greenhouse experience Plant identification knowledge, specifically for native plants Merchandising or inventory experience How to Apply Please send your resume and a brief note about your retail management or team leadership experience.
