Job Description

DESCRIPTION OF BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under supervision, performs a variety of routine custodial and attendant tasks related to the day?to?day operation of the Community Center. Employees in this classification receive general supervision within a framework of standard policies and procedures. Employees in this job class exercise responsibility for the general cleanliness and security of the Center. Unlocks and opens the Center; locks up building at closing; insures that doors and windows are locked/unlocked, lights and power are on/off, and materials picked up and building is clear of users. Staffs Center office during evenings and weekend hours, answering questions and providing information and referrals to Center users. Performs routine custodial tasks as required, including setting?up rooms for classes and events; cleaning, including restrooms and kitchen areas or other facilities; picking up trash, etc. Monitors on?going use of the Center to insure user compliance with all Center policies and procedures; resolves conflicts and problems that arise; maintains security procedures, including calling law enforcement or fire personnel when necessary, and implementing any emergency procedures.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Possession of:
a valid and appropriate California driver's license, including a safe driving record Special Requirements Bicultural and bilingual employee highly desirable Must be available for work evenings, weekends and holidays, as required
Knowledge of:
cleaning supplies, equipment, and methods safety rules and/or security precautions Ability to: safely and effectively use and apply cleaning materials and equipment communicate both orally and in writing understand and carry out oral and written instructions meet the mental, visual, hearing and physical requirements such as walking, bending, and lifting heavy tables and equipment, to safely and effectively perform required duties interpret and appropriately apply operating policies, procedures, and regulations interact tactfully and effectively with all people regardless of race, ethnicity, age, economic status or sexual preference establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals and groups not pose a direct threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the workplace
Training and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain these requirements would be: High school graduation or tested equivalent and some paid or unpaid public contact experience. Prior to appointment to the position of Facility Attendant, a medical examination and Department of Justice Livescan fingerprinting will be required.
