Tallahassee St. Marks Geo Park is looking for a self-motivated park service professional to fill a Resident Park Services Specialist position, providing visitor services, maintenance, protection, administration, and resource management. The applicant must wear the uniform correctly, possess good visitor service and administrative skills, be able to work independently and have the ability to perform a variety of skilled trade functions using assorted equipment and tools. The incumbent must be able to live onsite at Natural Bridge Battlefield Historic State Park. The incumbent must participate in all aspects of resource management, including prescribed fire activities. The applicant must be able to work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays. Compliance with the processing requirements of Chapter 215.422, F.S. is mandatory. Persistent failure to comply with this section by any agency of the state shall constitute good cause for discharge of employees duly found responsible, or predominantly responsible, for failure to comply. This position is Responsible for establishing and maintaining good public relations and for carrying out public information programs, developing and coordinating private and governmental manpower and financial support systems, visitor service and volunteer programs, assisting management with oversight of contractual service programs, assists in park maintenance and resource management programs. Participates in planning and conducting resource management activities by implementing resource management techniques required to manage and restore natural communities. Provides research, planning, coordination and conducts the interpretation of the natural/cultural resources within the park, including guided walks, campfire programs, tours, recreation skills programs and special events. Researches the history of a division facility, both cultural and natural, and develops plans for restoration and implementation. Provides research, development and coordination of a park information program. This includes the preparation of newspaper articles, PSA's, photos and other materials to optimize public awareness of the park. Identifies broadcast and print media interests, cultivates positive media relations and promotes media coverage of the park. Plans and conducts community outreach activities to expand public understanding of the Florida Park Service resource management and protection objectives. Represents the park and the Florida Park Service to outside agencies and organizations, disseminating information and promoting outdoor recreational opportunities provided by the park. Designs and organizes volunteer recruitment, special events and service programs. Monitors and defines suitable park volunteer need. Plans and conducts volunteer orientation and training sessions. Organizes and coordinates assignments of inmate labor services for the park. Serves as liaison with the Department of Corrections inmate labor program and improves value of services to the park. Serves as a liaison between the park and the District Park Programs Development Specialist and the Education & Training Specialists. Plans, organizes and conducts in-service training programs to meet the needs of the park's employees. Provides research, development and library of funding sources for the park via corporate/foundation and public support entities. Design and implement public marketing relations program to encourage corporate/foundation and private support of the park. Performs related work as required.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Valid drivers' license . Must successfully complete ranger academy. Must successfully meet position specific DRP Burn Standards for Prescribed Fire. Successful completion of a moderate pack test.Pack Test Requirement:
Passing of moderate pack test must be completed prior to employment, and annually thereafter complete light pack test. Prior to being hired, applicants will be given a single opportunity to take and successfully complete a supervised moderate pack test at a date and location to be announced. The pack test requires applicant to complete a two-mile walk while carrying 25 pounds in under 30 minutes.Position of Special Trust Requirement:
This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.Preferred Qualifications:

There are picnic and fishing areas surrounded by woodlands for a comfortable place to relax and reflect back on Florida's history.
