A Park Ranger leads informational programs for park visitors about the history and environmental features of public parks, and promote awareness of protecting park land. Welcomes and provides assistance to park visitors, assists with educational programs, oversees park events and activities and patrols park land.
Plans, formulates, and implements short- and long-term goals for park and recreational activities. Prepares, reviews, analyzes, and presents operations budgets; prepares capital improvement budget. Meets with community and business groups to establish community partnerships. Seek grants, rental, or sponsorship opportunities for Park and Rec projects. Organizes, participates, and supervises the concessions stand during programs and events. Schedule activities and events in cooperations with the school district and civic groups. Provide overall direction to the city's aquatic program and the maintenance and operation of the municipal swimming pool. Assures all OSHA regulations and safety procedures are followed by Park & Rec employees, volunteers, coaches and all participating individuals.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School graduate or equivalent is required. Prefer an applicant with a college degree in leisure services or related field and related experience. Valid Iowa Driver's License and hold certifications in (Adult, Child, and Infant First Aid/CPR/ AED, Pool Operator) or attain these certifications within a 6 month period.
