Job Description

The Northern Region Parks Division (NRPD) of the Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking Seasonal Maintenance Workers to support park operations across multiple programs and locations. Seasonal Maintenance Workers perform a variety of routine maintenance, groundskeeping, and custodial tasks to help ensure that parks, facilities, and public spaces are clean, safe, and welcoming for visitors. Positions may support athletic fields, playgrounds, trails, buildings, park grounds, and special events. This is an ideal opportunity for individuals seeking hands-on outdoor work, students seeking seasonal employment, or candidates interested in gaining experience in parks and facilities maintenance. Perform general grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, edging, leaf removal, and litter collection Assist with maintenance of athletic fields, playgrounds, trails, and landscaped areas Perform basic custodial duties, including cleaning restrooms, shelters, and park facilities Assist with set-up and breakdown of equipment for park programs, rentals, and special events Use hand tools, power tools, and light equipment safely and properly Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, and damaged equipment to supervisors Follow established safety procedures and departmental guidelines Interact courteously with park patrons and staff Perform related duties as assigned Required Must be at least 18 years of age Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Availability to work assigned schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Preferred Previous experience in grounds maintenance, custodial work, or general labor Familiarity with hand and power tools Interest in parks, recreation, or facilities maintenance Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of basic maintenance and cleaning practices Ability to safely use tools and equipment Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Strong work ethic and reliability Effective communication and customer service skills May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing. Work hours Work schedules vary by assignment and operational needs. Seasonal hours are not guaranteed and may fluctuate based on program needs. Working Conditions/Environment Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Duties may involve exposure to weather conditions, noise, dirt, cleaning chemicals, and physical activity including lifting, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.
