Job Description

Job Summary Join our vibrant team as a Valle Crucis Community Park Environmental Educator and ignite a passion for nature, conservation, and community engagement! In this dynamic paid role, you will deliver engaging environmental programs that inspire visitors of all ages. Your leadership will foster a deeper appreciation for the natural world, promote sustainable practices, and strengthen community bonds through educational outreach. POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Valle Crucis Community Park Environmental Educator has primary responsibility for overseeing Park Environmental Education (E. E.) programming. The Park Naturalist will work 12 months a year, with most programming taking place from June through October. The position requires the willingness and ability to work non-standard hours for meetings and events. A base salary of $200 per month will be provided to compensate the employee for time dedicated to both internal and external communications, participation in meetings, and completion of other tasks relevant to the role. Payment for programming will be $100 per event.

DUTIES and
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strong public speaking skills with the ability to engage audiences of all ages confidently and effectively. Primary responsibility for setting up and implementing the nature table at Music in the Valle and the Saturday nature table: Environmental Education table at Music in the Valle (MITV) 4 pm
  • 9 pm every Friday night, last Friday in May through the first Friday in September
  • a learning station at weekly MITV events (15 weeks) which features a rotating selection of E.E. topics. EE will need to bring live animals to use for interactive education. (safe to handle snakes, bugs, salamanders, etc.) Environmental Education table
  • weekly Environmental Education table set up on Saturdays 2 pm-4 pm time may be flexible, but geared towards high traffic times at the park for maximum patron engagement for participants of all ages. Starting on the first Saturday in June through September/October, depending on park patron participation. E.E
  • related community outreach and communication with Park users and donors, including, but not limited to: Ask A Naturalist
  • Park visitors are encouraged to submit questions via email or dropbox to be answered by our in-house Park Environmental Educator Wildlife Wednesday Social Posts
  • native nature/E.E
  • related content, including photo(s) and caption to be shared weekly on Park social media platforms Naturalist Report
  • educational column dedicated to nature-related topics to be shared in the bi-monthly Park e-newsletter Work with the Executive Director and office manager to develop educational signage or other educational materials for the
