As a Park Safety Ambassador, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safety of our parks, facilities, staff, contractors, vendors, and visitors while supporting daily operations, special events, and overnight activities. This position reports directly to the Park Safety Manager and may be assigned to work at either Myriad Botanical Gardens or Scissortail Park based on operational needs. Schedule, Location and Compensation
  • Compensation, $16.00 to $19.00 per hour.
  • Park Safety Ambassadors may be assigned to day, evening, overnight, weekend, holiday, and special event shifts based on operational needs.
  • Employees may be assigned to work at either Myriad Botanical Gardens or Scissortail Park and may be reassigned between locations as operational needs require. Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities Represent the organization with professionalism, positivity, and a commitment to exceptional guest service.
  • Proactively familiarize yourself with daily schedules, park activities, and upcoming events to serve as a primary information resource for guests.
  • Provide courteous assistance, directions, and accurate event information to guests, employees, vendors, visitors, and first responder.
Conduct routine patrols on foot and/or by vehicle throughout park properties and facilities. Maintain awareness of guest, employee, contractor, vendor, and visitor activity to help ensure a safe and welcoming environment. Monitor for irregular or unusual conditions that may present safety, maintenance, or operational concerns. Respond to incidents and emergencies and notify appropriate personnel, law enforcement, fire, or EMS when necessary. Monitor entrances, exits, restricted areas, and facility access points. Enforce Park rules, safety policies, and operational procedures in a professional and courteous manner. Address rule violations including trespassing, unauthorized access, smoking in prohibited areas, and possession of prohibited items. Observe and report suspicious activity, vandalism, theft concerns, facility issues, or safety hazards. Complete detailed reports regarding accidents, injuries, disturbances, maintenance concerns, and unusual activity. Maintain communication through radio, phone, email, and incident reporting systems. Assist with park operations, maintenance activities, construction monitoring, and special event support. Provide courteous assistance, directions, and information to guests, employees, vendors, visitors, and first responders. Administer basic first aid, CPR, AED, and emergency assistance when necessary. Interact respectfully with all guests and visitors while helping connect individuals with available resources when appropriate. Remain calm and exercise sound judgment during emergencies and stressful situations. Assist with facility opening and closing procedures as assigned. Perform additional duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in public safety, hospitality, customer service, parks operations, military service, emergency response, or a related field. CPR/First Aid/AED Certification preferred or ability to obtain certification upon hire. Bilingual communication skills preferred. Minimum Requirements Minimum age of 21 years old. High School Diploma or GED required. Valid Oklahoma Driver's License required. Professional appearance, attitude, and communication skills. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Strong written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment. Ability to pass an extensive background check and drug screening. Eligible to work in the United States. Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures. Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods. Ability to operate a vehicle or utility golf cart safely. Ability to work flexible schedules, including days, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and special events. Additional Skills and Abilities Ability to quickly learn and utilize surveillance systems, radio communications, and incident reporting software. Ability to effectively interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds and age groups. Ability to remain calm and professional during emergency situations. Ability to complete required training in: CPR/First Aid/AED Active threat response Bloodborne pathogen precautions Crowd management Severe weather response Fire safety Mental health crisis response Radio operations Customer service and conflict de-escalation Vehicle and utility golf cart operations Work Environment This position requires both indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions. Employees will be required to wear a uniform and appropriate safety equipment while performing extended walking, standing, guest interaction, and patrol duties throughout the shift. Assignments may occur at either Myriad Botanical Gardens or Scissortail Park and may include daytime, evening, overnight, weekend, holiday and special event operations.
