Three-hour shifts scheduled in the morning, 5 days a week
Location:
Director Park and Darcelle XV Plaza Do you love Downtown Portland? Do you love being outdoors? The Park Aide will help create a clean, and welcoming park environment for all visitors and event guests. This position focuses on the upkeep of Director Park and Darcelle XV Plaza, supporting our summer activation series at the parks, and providing a friendly and can-do attitude!
Duties include:
Assist with daily setup, including moving tables, chairs, games, activation materials, etc.
  • Interact courteously with park visitors, event staff, and vendors.
Stewardship of Director Park and Darcelle XV Plaza includes cleaning the park, cleaning tables and chairs, picking up trash, leaf blowing, etc. Report maintenance needs, safety hazards, or incidents to proper channels. Working together as a team and alone to complete daily tasks. Working in an array of weather conditions and walking upwards of 5 to 7 miles.
  • Lifting/carrying items that are at least 25 lbs., push carts, set up of our mobile kiosk station.
  • Follow safety, sanitation, and operational procedures. What we're looking for: Previous hospitality or cleaning experience is a plus! Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 25 lbs, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods. Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner Excellent communication skills Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for event coverage.

Please note:
Park Aides spend a significant amount of time outdoors. In the course of duties an employee may walk five to seven miles a day. Requirements include the ability to bend, lift, and remain standing and walking for the duration of the shift. It also requires the ability to lift 25 lbs. Fulfilling these outdoor tasks, the employee is exposed to sun, dust, and extremes in temperature. First Aid training will also be required and can be supplied by Downtown Portland Clean & Safe at the beginning of the position. Compensation is $20.00/hour.
