Assistant Park Ranger

Assistant Park Ranger Kings Mountain State Park Under direct supervision, assists with overall operation and maintenance of a South Carolina State Park. Performs diversified duties as governed by general instruction, policies and standard operating procedures of the Department. Assists with park administrative duties in accordance with Department policy and procedures and planning of long and short-term goals. Collect and account for revenue and produce required reports. Instruct, supervise and perform routine and preventative maintenance on grounds, buildings and equipment to meet established standards. Manages assigned specific operations to include day use areas, retail operations, camping and cabin rentals, and other facilities. Assists in control of inventories of equipment and supplies by issue, use and counts; completes data reports. Interprets the cultural and natural resources of the State Park Service to park visitors and manages and conducts programs and events when needed. Performs Search and Rescue and park rule enforcement activities within his/her authority and established policy and provides a safe environment for visitors and staff. Position is classified as a temporary employment position with the South Carolina Department of Parks Recreation and Tourism but is eligible to work 40 hours a week year round. The position is required to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays. On park barracks style housing may be available.
