Naturalist NOVA Parks - 4.0 Arlington, VA Job Details Part-time | Seasonal $14 - $15 an hour 14 hours ago Qualifications CPR Certification Report writing Outdoor work First aid Customer inquiry handling Driver's License First Aid Certification AED Certification Full Job Description Naturalists perform interpretive duties, animal care, work with volunteers and lead related program work at Potomac Overlook Regional Park. Other responsibilities include helping maintain park grounds and facilities.
Pay Rate:
$14.00 per hour / $15.00 per hour (hourly rate depends on tasks performed) Major Duties/Specific Tasks Provide visitor information and answer telephone inquiries; Assist with preparation of exhibits and other interpretive materials; Assist with preparation and presentation of programs for school and public groups; Work with volunteers; Care for live animal exhibits and help maintain Nature Center, and grounds; Assist with maintenance of the facility and equipment: use equipment such as leaf blowers; collect and dispose of litter and trash; clean restrooms; dust, sweep and vacuum; plant and maintain trees/shrubs and planted beds; remove invasive plants; organize and help maintain organization of all programming materials and nature center; Perform other related work as required. Minimum Qualifications At least two years of high school education in some natural resource field; 1 year of college preferred; General knowledge of biology and ecology; At least a basic knowledge of flora and fauna of Northern Virginia; Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with the public and staff members; Ability to prepare and present accurate reports; Ability to perform manual labor and to work in all weather conditions; Availability to work additional hours during peak operating times, holidays, nights and weekends; Possession of or ability to obtain valid VA driver's license; Certification or ability to obtain certification in CPR and first aid and AED. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position. Required to purchase and wear standard uniform.
