  • = Full TimePart Time Regular Staff Only As an Integrated Pest Management Technician, you will carry out our Mission of Love by a ssessing conditions to promote healthy structural growth, and maintain structural soundness of vast tree community on campus.
In coordination with the Arborist, the Plant Health Tech identifies and manages plant and tree pests, disease and guides decision making regarding plant species and pest/disease treatments for entire campus. Our Integrated Pest Management Technician is responsible for the following: Assists in planning, coordinating and performing any plant health practices necessary to maintain the campus such as the care of lawns and gardens. Develop, implement, monitor and accurately document a comprehensive Plant Health Care program for all landscape-valued plant material across campus. Maintains work areas and vehicles in an orderly and clean manner, maintaining a safe work place. Performs all tasks and operates all equipment in a safe manner as outlined in operating manuals. Ensures the proper care and use of tools, equipment and supplies and uses proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. Contribute to the tree planting program and practices on campus, in coordination with the Tree Specialist/Landscape Gardener and Department Leaders. Responsible for understanding the proper use and handling of pesticides to include quantifying chemical mixtures, ratios, rates, application processes. Fertilizes lawns and plants and apply any herbicides or pesticides to keep the foliage healthy and thriving. Maintains accurate records of pesticide, fertilizer and soil amendment applications Participate in general landscape care, as required by Landscape Supervisor. Possess the ability to operate landscape and snow removal equipment, understand basic horticultural practices, and best management practices. Assist in educating landscape gardeners in basic plant health identification, treatments and safety measures, in coordination with Landscape Supervisor. Performs all aspects of snow operations on campus by plowing, equipment operations, salting and shoveling during winter weather conditions including off hours call-in. Completes computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) generated work orders and provides clear documentation of work as required. Generates work orders for additional work or tasks identified in the field and completes or submits them as appropriate. Maintains an accurate record of time for cost distribution and payroll. Integrated Pest Management Technician:
A high school graduate or equivalent. Secondary education degree or applicable certification preferred. A valid Pa. Driver's License, Class A
  • Commercial Driver's License is preferred.
Minimum of four years training in horticulture, either technical or on-the-job is desirable. Ability to acquire a PA state pesticide applicator's certification Category 6 and 7.
