05/2026PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Elementary Agriculture Teacher provides engaging, age-appropriate instruction that introduces students to agriculture, natural resources, environmental science, food systems, and leadership development. The teacher creates hands-on learning experiences aligned with state academic standards while promoting agricultural literacy, STEM integration, career awareness, and community involvement.Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Education, Elementary Education, Agriculture, or related fieldQualifications:
Valid state teaching certification/licensure. Knowledge of basic agriculture, gardening, environmental science, and child development. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Ability to organize hands-on learning experiences safely and effectively. Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred.Experience:
3 years of teaching experience preferredMajorl Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver agriculture-related lessons for elementary students in grades K-5 or K-6. Teach foundational concepts in: Plant science Animal science Soil and water conservation Gardening and nutrition Agricultural technology Environmental stewardship Food production systems Integrate agriculture concepts into science, math, literacy, and social studies instruction. Develop and supervise school gardens, greenhouse activities, or agricultural projects. Create hands-on, project-based learning experiences. Maintain a safe and organized classroom, lab, garden, or outdoor learning area. Assess student learning and maintain accurate academic records. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs. Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, families, and community partners. Participate in school events, professional development, and district meetings. Promote leadership, teamwork, and citizenship through agricultural education activities. Manage classroom supplies, equipment, and instructional materials. Follow all district policies, safety procedures, and state education regulations. Coordinate elementary agricultural literacy programs. Organize field trips, guest speakers, or community agriculture events. Support connections with local farms, extension offices, and agricultural organizations. Assist with youth leadership opportunities such as: 4-H programs Junior FFA awareness activities School garden clubsSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
