EMPLOYMENT TERM
Normal contract: 200 days, typically eight hours per day, but flexible as needed by bus run or student needs and school starting time. Anticipated start date of August 13, 2026.
BID PERIOD
April 29 to May 6, 2026, 4 pm. If necessary, interviews will be arranged after bid period closes.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Aide employed for the purpose of working as an ECCAT may be required to ride the bus conveying such youngsters and to assist with their needs in boarding and disembarking from the bus as well as assisting the teacher with classroom instruction, possibly assisting children with toileting needs, and lifting physically handicapped children as needed. Various duties as assigned by the principal. They will assist the teacher in teacher-directed instructional activities. In addition, the ECCAT will assist the teacher in classroom management, socialization activities, and basic living skills of students. When necessary, the aide will assist in administration of emergency first aid and will lift and lend assistance as needed by any physically handicapped child within the classroom/school. ECCAT will assist in other locations during other periods of the day will as assigned by the principal. Other duties including bus duty and/or bus run will be determined by county/school administration and assigned as needed. The applicant must be able to independently lift and toilet children 50 â€" 150 pounds and over. The applicant will also demonstrate the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position as contained in the job description, with or without reasonable accommodation.
QUALIFICATIONS
The applicant will provide demonstrable competencies in reading, writing, spelling, and mathematics. He/She will demonstrate verbal and written expression as well as the ability to follow both oral and written instructions. He/She will demonstrate the ability to appropriately manage young children through the use of certain behavioral management techniques. The ECCAT will demonstrate a working knowledge of first aid. He/she must be a high school graduate or equivalent. The applicant must complete the Early Childhood WVDE approved course work for the Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher Authorization. They must also complete the state mandated trainings in the science of reading and numeracy instruction. They must have ECCAT certification (at least temporary at first, progressing towards permanent certification in accordance with WVDE regulations.) The applicant must pass the initial/yearly Bus Training offered by the transportation department since they may be called upon to serve on a bus run.
SALARY:
Salary based on experience and education level per MCS BOE salary schedule located at https://marshall-k12.wvnet.edu/boe/salary-schedules/ plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation. Pay grade
