Duties Help As an Aircraft Mechanic, WG-8852-10, you will: Perform inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on aircraft to include periodic, phase, hourly, preflight, post flight, calendar, thru-flight, and special inspections such as fuel contaminion, emergency equipment, and oil sampling. Inspect and perform functional checks such as landing gear retraction and operion checks on hydraulic, electrical, pressurizion, lubricion, de-icing, vacuum, induction, and exhaust systems. Troubleshoot and perform unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft, utilizing various gauges, meters, measuring devices and other reled test equipment. Remove and replace aircraft components such as control surfaces, engines, constant speed drive, engine mounted gear boxes, wing fuel tanks or cells, landing gear mechanisms, wheels, brakes and tires. Service oil, fluid, fuel, hydraulic, and oxygen systems. Adjust and maintain installed equipment such as tow targets, hydraulic reels, and drive assemblies. Perform user and organizional level maintenance on assigned support equipment, including inspection, repair, modificion, and corrosion prevention. Instruct, direct, and assign maintenance repair tasks to drill stus guard members. Complies with safety, fire, security, and housekeeping regulions. Prepare for and participe in various types of readiness evaluions such as MEI, ORI, IG and UE inspections, mobility and command support exercises. Perform other duties as assigned. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED

This is an excepted service position th requires membership in a compible military assignment in the employing ste's Nional Guard, required prior to the effective de of placement. Selectee required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigion. May be required to successfully complete a probionary period. Participion in direct deposit is mandory. Preplacement Medical Requirements:

General Experience :

Experience or training th has provided the candide with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specificions. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.

Specialized Experience :

Candide must have least 18 months specialized experience installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modificion. Experience coordining the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.

Working Conditions :

Works inside and outside, in inclement weher, on icy, wet, and slippery ramps and work-stands in temperure and humidity extremes. Work areas may be drafty, noisy and have toxic fumes present. Irritants such as aircraft fluids, dirt, grease, dust, paint and solvents may be present. Exposure to cuts, burns, electrical shock, strains, and broken toes exists.

Physical Effort:

Required to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, and work in tiring an uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts parts and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds. Occasionally lifts and carries times weighing 50 pounds and over.
