Job Description
JOB Reporting to the Director of Finance & Administration, the Airport Accountant performs professional accounting work, maintains financial records, implements and maintains department accounting policies and procedures. Ensures accounts payable and receivable are current. Performs general lease management functions. Assists the Airport Director of Finance & Administration in the development and monitoring of programs and policies.
Assists in developing the annual Airport budget. Maintains accounting and financial control records.
Prepares bi-weekly payroll for all Airport Employees, working with supervisors, employees, and County Finance to ensure payroll submission is accurate and timely.
Works with FBO accounting software to ensure proper invoicing, fuel rates, reporting and month end closing procedures. Prepares various journal entries including fuel inventory purchases, deice fluid, and other adjustments as needed.
Supports Human Resources and airport operations by preparing personnel actions, tracking employee performance completion and employee metrics.
Gathers data to analyze, review and update metrics to track key performance metrics and distributes to team membersPrepares, analyzes, add reviews estimates of revenue, reimbursement, expenditures and other accounts.
Assists with enforcement of Federal Aviation Regulations, County policies and Airport rules and regulations.
Participates in the development of leases, contracts and other agreements with airline, rental agencies and other airport tenants.
Develops standard leases, monitors and coordinates leased space; develop, maintains and manages standard leases for various activities.
Gathers data for a variety of financial reports requiring the application of accounting principles and judgment.
Responsible for general purchasing functions including purchase order payment vouchers, requisitions, pricing information, vender contacts and procurement of staff uniforms.
Develops computer spreadsheets that reflect airline activity, airport activity, rental, cargo and mail, expenses and projected revenue.
Maintains records and generates reports on various airport issues including tenant lease summary, rentals, parking, department budget, insurance certificates, fuel usage, the Airport Improvement Program.
Assists with lease compliance and response to inquiries from staff, tenants and the general public.
Serves as backup in the absence of the Airport Customer/Administration Support Specialist.
Develops office operational procedures and policies and other administrative matters to improve efficiency and productivity; maintains current knowledge of agency policies and procedures, county codes, rules and regulations.
Investigates and responds to inquiries and concerns on the part of staff, tenants and the public.
Assists in the development of resolutions and fiscal notes.
Assumes additional responsibilities in the absence of the Airport Director of Finance & Administration.
Maintains regular and predictable attendance, works overtime/extra hours as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. Ability to understand and follow departmental policies, procedures, and applicable County rules and regulations. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Work is performed primarily in an office setting, with regular use of standard office equipment and computer systems. The position may require occasional movement within the work environment and limited lifting of up to 20 pounds using proper body mechanics.
Hours:
Monday-Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM may need some flexibility based on business needs. May be overtime or comp time for this roleEXAMPLE OF DUTIES

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Proficiency in standard office technology and software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and other applications used within the department; ability to operate general office equipment. Knowledge of administrative and operational functions, with the ability to coordinate and support airport administrative activities. Working knowledge of accounting principles and terminology, with the ability to interpret financial information and perform basic mathematical calculations, including percentages and decimals. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines. Ability to exercise sound judgment, initiative, and problem-solving skills in a variety of work situations. Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, concise reports, correspondence, and documentation. Ability to research, compile, and analyze information to support projects, reports, and decision-making.
