What they do
A Military Specialist operates and maintains vehicles and mechanical equipment pertinent to mission success, whether on the sea, land or in the air. May monitor communication, detection, or weapons systems during operations. Interprets and evaluates tactical situations, making recommendations to supervisors. May operate weapons targeting, firing, and launch systems whether during combat or peacetime. In addition to their combat training, they have also specialized training in swimming, diving, parachuting, survival, emergency medicine, and foreign languages. Duties include conducting advanced reconnaissance operations and collecting intelligence information; recruiting, training, and equipping friendly forces; conducting raids and invasions on enemy territories; laying and detonating explosives for demolition targets; locating, identifying, defusing, and disposing of ordnance; and operating and maintaining sophisticated communications equipment.

This position is contingent upon contract award. Candidates must have an active Secret clearance and verify, before applying, that you meet the minimum requirements of the position.Target salary range:
$115k - $120k. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors. JANUS Research Group is seeking a Senior Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM) Modeler to support the U.S. Army Aviation Future Capability Directorate (A-FCD) at Fort Rucker, Alabama. The Senior AFSIM Modeler will develop, configure, execute, and analyze mission-level models and simulations supporting Army Aviation capability development, system-of-systems analysis, experimentation, and requirements development. The position will work closely with Army Aviation subject matter experts, systems engineers, and other technical personnel to convert operational questions and capability requirements into repeatable quantitative analyses. Primary Responsibilities- Develop and maintain AFSIM models representing current and future Army Aviation and multi-domain systems.
- Configure AFSIM run sets and develop mission-level scenarios supporting capability and requirements analysis.
- Model weapons systems, sensors, radar and electronic warfare systems, aircraft flight dynamics, missile systems, satellite/space architectures, and command-and-control networks.
- Develop and modify custom AFSIM plug-ins, extensions, and supporting analytical utilities.
- Use C++, Python, and other scripting tools to support model development, data collection, processing, and analysis.
- Conduct quantitative and systems analyses evaluating alternative capabilities, configurations, mission concepts, and force structures.
- Work with Aviation SMEs to translate operational concepts, mission threads, and requirements into executable simulation scenarios.
- Support verification and validation of models, assumptions, inputs, and simulation outputs.
- Document models, assumptions, source data, configuration information, and data lineage.
- Develop technical modeling documentation and analytical reports for Government stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other modeling and analytical personnel.
- Present analytical results and technical findings to Government technical and operational audiences. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 9 years of relevant professional experience consistent with the Force Design Analyst II LCAT.
- Significant hands-on experience developing and executing models using AFSIM.
- Demonstrated experience configuring simulation run sets and developing mission-level scenarios.
- Proficiency in C++.
- Proficiency in Python or comparable scripting languages.
- Experience conducting quantitative modeling, simulation, and systems analysis.
- Ability to document assumptions, source data, methodologies, and model lineage.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Active Secret security clearance. Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years of hands-on AFSIM experience.
- Army Aviation, DoD, or joint modeling and simulation experience.
- Experience developing custom AFSIM plug-ins or extensions.
- Experience with mission engineering or system-of-systems analysis.
- Experience supporting Army capability development, experimentation, JCIDS, CBA, or related requirements activities.
