Job Summary & Scope:
Mussel & Burger Bar is looking for a dependable, hardworking, and team-oriented AM Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. This role is responsible for preparing ingredients and kitchen items before service to ensure the line is fully stocked and ready for a successful lunch and dinner shift. The Prep Cook will work closely with the Executive Chef, Sous Chefs, and kitchen team to maintain high standards of food quality, cleanliness, organization, and food safety. This position plays a key role in the daily success of kitchen operations by ensuring all prep work is completed accurately, efficiently, and on time.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare food items according to recipes, portion standards, and kitchen procedures Prep vegetables, sauces, proteins, sides, and other ingredients for daily service Label, date, rotate, and properly store all food products following FIFO procedures Maintain clean, organized, and sanitized prep stations and kitchen areas Assist with receiving, stocking, and organizing deliveries and inventory Ensure kitchen stations are fully stocked and prepared for lunch and dinner service Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines Communicate effectively with chefs and kitchen staff to support smooth operations Assist line cooks and other kitchen team members during high-volume periods as needed Monitor product quality and report shortages or concerns to management Safely operate kitchen equipment and maintain a safe working environment
Requirements:
Previous prep cook or kitchen experience preferred, but not required Strong work ethic with willingness to learn and grow Ability to work independently while staying organized and efficient Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality Reliable transportation and consistent punctuality Team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills Flexibility to work mornings, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards preferred
Physical Demands:
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-temperature kitchen environment Must be able to safely handle kitchen tools, equipment, and hot surfaces
