Part-time Organization Overview:

The mission of Happy Hollow Children's Camp, Inc. is to create an outdoor learning experience that inspires Indiana youth to reach their full potential as active, responsible and caring members of the community. Since our start in 1951, Happy Hollow has welcomed more than 45,000 children to experience a camp full of opportunities for learning and adventure. Children ages 7 to 14 from the Greater Indianapolis area make friends, learn about nature and take part in supervised camp activities that help them see new possibilities for themselves. Happy Hollow provides camping activities in a residential setting at our 850-acre Brown County camp. We place major emphasis on serving children who are from economically disadvantaged households, are in the foster system, or who attend outdoor educational programs at Happy Hollow through participation in field trips by schools or other organizations. In addition, Happy Hollow partners with other non-profit groups to provide residential camp opportunities to children with various medical challenges. As one of the only residential camps in Indiana focusing on service to children from economically underprivileged households, the camp's staff and directors are working diligently to help Central Indiana families meet the challenges of providing great opportunities to their children. Happy Hollow is accredited by the American Camp Association and maintains the highest standards of quality and safety.

Service Position Summary:

We are looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Maintenance Summer Camp Cleaning Assistant to help keep our camp facilities clean, safe, and welcoming throughout the summer season. This role is ideal for someone who is self-motivated, comfortable working independently, and takes pride in maintaining a healthy camp environment for campers and staff. Maintenance experience is a plus.

SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES

Clean and sanitize camp facilities, including cabins, restrooms, dining areas, offices, and common spaces Perform daily, weekly, and turnover cleanings as needed Follow camp health, safety, and sanitation guidelines Work independently and manage time effectively to complete assigned tasks Identify and report maintenance issues, safety concerns, or supply needs Assist with light maintenance tasks when needed (e.g., basic repairs, setup, or upkeep) Properly use and care for cleaning equipment and supplies Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Strong attention to detail and pride in doing thorough work Self-motivated with the ability to work alone and stay on task Reliable, responsible, and punctual Comfortable working in a camp setting and around nature Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, lifting, and walking throughout the day Previous cleaning experience preferred Maintenance or facilities experience is helpful but not required Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work some evenings and weekends Must pass a federal, state, and National Sex Offender background check.
