Job Description

Nittobo America, Inc. has an excellent opportunity for candidates who are interested in working with large animals. The Animal Care Technician provides care and maintenance for goats, operates farm equipment and performs farm operation duties. This is a physically demanding position that requires frequently lifting up to 100 pounds.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Feeds and waters animals on a regular, scheduled basis
  • Ensures animals have adequate housing and feeders in good repair
  • Observes animals daily for signs of illness and cares for sick animals as directed
  • Assists with weighing, vaccinating, medications, recording information
  • Performs routine animal care, including hoof trimming, weighing, vaccinating, and if needed, dispensing medications as instructed
  • Ensures accurate recordkeeping and animal information on forms or in database
  • Transports animals to and from pens to animal laboratory facility
  • Prepares animals for test bleedings, immunizations, and plasmapheresis
  • Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs of fences, gates, doors, feeders, pens, etc.
  • Cleans all building structures, shelters, pens, and yards as scheduled
  • Participates in receiving and loading/unloading of supplies, as needed
  • Drives, refuels, and maintains farm vehicles and small farm equipment, including skid loaders, tractors, weed trimmers, etc.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Previous experience with large animals is preferred.

$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
