Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate, hardworking, and dependable individual to join our team as an Animal Caretaker. This role is essential to maintaining the health, safety, and well-being of the animals in our care. The ideal candidate is passionate about animal welfare, comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, and enjoys hands-on work.

Responsibilities:

Daily feeding, watering, and cleaning of animal enclosures Routine health checks and administering basic medical treatments (under guidance) Assisting with animal enrichment and socialization Maintaining cleanliness and safety standards throughout the sanctuary Record keeping and communicating health or behavioral concerns Possibly assisting with volunteer coordination and public education events

Qualifications:

Prior experience working with animals (farmed animals a plus!) Reliable transportation and punctuality Ability to lift 25-50 lbs and perform physical tasks Willingness to work weekends and holidays if needed Compassionate, team-oriented, and detail-focused Comfortable working in a vegan-centered environment Ability to take direction and communicate openly is a MUST!

Additional Qualifications A Bonus:

Veterinary technician training or farm animal care experience CPR/First Aid certification for animals Experience with rescue/rehabilitation work

Work Schedule & Compensation:

We are offering on-site housing in exchange for an alternating 3- and 4-day work week. We are located on 10 acres surrounded by redwoods & open pasture areas. Housing includes a private Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) with: A separate entrance 2 small bedrooms Living room Kitchenette Bathroom with shower Work schedule is flexible and will be determined collaboratively between the caretaker and sanctuary staff. On days off, the caretaker is free to work off-site or remotely if supplemental income is desired.
