Immediately Job Description The Warwick Community School and Warwick School District is Massachusetts's newest public school district. Nestled into the scenic woodlands, along the border of Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont (map), our beautiful and innovative elementary school will open in the fall of 2023. The school sits on a 25-acre outdoor campus that features a vernal pool and cranberry bog. Mother foxes can be seen raising their cubs right outside the classroom windows. We have many school gardens and plan to build more to support both our curriculum and our lunch program. WCS is seeking highly qualified candidates for a part time School Psychologist.The Role:
The School Psychologist provides psychological and assessment services to students in grades preK through sixth. The role of the school psychologist is to promote the cognitive, social, and personal development of all students, organize and facilitate the special education evaluation and eligibility processes, and facilitate learning. The School Psychologist functions as a member of the total diagnostic team by providing assessment, and educational planning and services for students. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to: Conducts comprehensive psychological and psychoeducational evaluations to identify student disabilities, examines developmental history and its impact on learning, studies adjustment characteristics, and the needs of individuals and groups in the learning and home environments. Uses assessment data about the student and his/her environment(s) in developing appropriate interventions and programs. May assist in conducting student observations for re-evaluations and initials. Provides written reports and an oral presentation to parents and staff at Team meetings and individually when needed. Serve as a member of the MTSS Team & SST Work with Administrators and other personnel to design and implement academic and behavioral interventions; student progress monitoring systems. May provide tier 2 or 3 counseling services Provides consultation to parents, teachers, other school personnel, and community agencies to enhance the learning and adjustment of students.Your Skill Set:
As the incoming School Psychologist you will possess the following characteristics and qualifications: Experience with a range of learner profiles including mild/moderate and intensive special needs and atypical learning profiles. Experience with students on the autism spectrum, and ASD evaluation measures, and data collection. Experience with and commitment to inclusion that benefits students academically and social/emotionally. Ability to work closely, collaboratively and effectively with a team of teachers, service providers, and families. Strong ability to work as a member of a professional learning community and multi-disciplinary team. Highly effective executive function skills including being well organized, strong time management and scheduling skills, and able to work independently to meet timelines. Highly effective oral and written communication skills that promote and encourage collaboration with colleagues, parents, and administrators. Strong positive, interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with students, staff, administration and families. Maintain currency in the field and emphasize the role and use of data in treatment and program planning. Salaries are competitive with local districts and commensurate with experience.
