Job Title:
Apartment Maintenance Technician Job Description This full-time Renovation Technician role focuses on interior apartment renovations, working Tuesday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You will use your skills in plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, drywall, and general construction to complete renovation projects efficiently and with high quality. This position starts on a temporary basis with the strong potential to become permanent based on satisfactory performance. Responsibilities Perform interior apartment renovations, including demolition, installation, and finishing work. Complete carpentry tasks such as framing, installing trim, and repairing or replacing doors, cabinets, and other fixtures. Install, repair, and troubleshoot basic plumbing systems and fixtures within apartments. Perform basic electrical work, including installing and troubleshooting outlets, switches, lighting, and related components. Hang, repair, and finish drywall to a smooth, paint-ready surface. Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete renovation and maintenance tasks. Conduct preventive maintenance in apartment units to identify and resolve issues before they escalate. Repair and maintain appliances as needed during renovation projects. Diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance issues in renovated units and complete repairs in a timely manner. Follow work orders and project plans to ensure renovations meet property standards and timelines. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in occupied and unoccupied units. Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members about project status, material needs, and any issues encountered. Participate in an on-call rotation approximately once per month, responding to maintenance needs during the assigned week. Essential Skills Hands-on experience with interior apartment renovations or similar residential renovation work. Proficiency in carpentry, including framing, installation, and finishing tasks. Working knowledge of plumbing systems, including installation, repair, and troubleshooting of basic fixtures. Working knowledge of basic electrical systems, including installation, repair, and troubleshooting. Strong drywall skills, including hanging, taping, mudding, and finishing. Ability to perform general construction and maintenance technician duties in residential units. Skill in using a wide range of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively. Ability to troubleshoot and repair common maintenance issues in apartment units. Capability to perform preventive maintenance tasks to maintain property condition. Reliable attendance and ability to work a full-time schedule from Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Willingness to participate in a rotating on-call schedule approximately once per month. Must have and bring your own hand and power tools suitable for renovation and maintenance work. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working as a maintenance technician, renovation technician, framer, or in a similar construction role. Experience with appliance repair within residential or multifamily properties. Ability to read and follow work orders, basic plans, and written instructions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship. Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors. Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintain tools and materials in good order. Adaptability to work in occupied and unoccupied apartment units with minimal disruption to residents. Work is performed on-site during daytime hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, with participation in an on-call rotation approximately once per month for after-hours needs. The environment is hands-on and physically active, with frequent standing, walking, lifting, and use of ladders and tools in both occupied and unoccupied apartments. Appropriate work attire suitable for construction and maintenance activities is expected to ensure safety and professionalism. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntington Beach, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
