Job Description

Overview Tri-County Electric Cooperative is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Apprentice Lineman to join our team. This position offers a hands-on opportunity to build a long-term career in electric distribution. The successful candidate will work under the direction of experienced linemen to assist in the construction, maintenance, and operation of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems. This is a structured apprenticeship role requiring ongoing training and skill development to progress within the program. Key Responsibilities Assist in the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground electric distribution lines Safely operate tools, equipment, and vehicles used in line work Learn installation and maintenance of meters, transformers, regulators, and related equipment Maintain accurate daily records of time, materials, and work performed Support inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and specifications Follow all applicable safety rules, including OSHA and industry standards Provide courteous, professional service to customers and the public Participate in required training programs (including occasional overnight travel) Perform other duties as assigned Requirements High school diploma or equivalent plus a certificate or degree in Electrical Distribution Systems (or related field) Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required (no restrictions) Ability to obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification Willingness to work overtime and irregular hours, including emergency response Ability to pass physical examination and drug screening Must reside within 34 miles of the cooperative Strong work ethic, teamwork skills, and commitment to safety Working Conditions Work performed both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions Physically demanding tasks including lifting, climbing, standing, walking, bending, and kneeling Exposure to potentially hazardous environments requiring strict adherence to safety procedures What We Offer Competitive pay Comprehensive benefits package, including: Medical insurance Life insurance Retirement plan Additional Information This position description outlines the general nature of the role and is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties or responsibilities.
