Job Description

Overview Tri-County Electric Cooperative is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Journeyman Lineman to support the construction, maintenance, and operation of our electrical distribution system. This position plays a key role in ensuring reliable service by performing work on both energized and de-energized overhead and underground lines, with or without direct supervision. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, leadership ability, and a commitment to safety and efficiency. Key Responsibilities Perform construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground distribution lines (energized and de-energized) Patrol lines to identify and correct unsafe conditions or equipment issues Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications Safely operate and maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment Coordinate daily job activities to maximize efficiency of personnel and resources Assist with and support training and safety programs for line personnel Maintain accurate records of time, materials, and job activities Communicate system changes (feeds, phasing, sectionalizing, etc.) to team members Provide professional, courteous service to customers and the public Perform additional duties as assigned Requirements High school diploma or equivalent plus successful completion of a recognized four-year Journeyman Lineman program Minimum of four (4) years of electric line work experience, including climbing and hot line work Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required (no restrictions) Ability to pass required written examination and climbing test Ability to pass physical examination and drug screening CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain and maintain) Must reside within 34 miles of reporting location Willingness to participate in on-call ("Crew on Watch") rotation and overtime Strong leadership, communication, and safety awareness Working Conditions Work performed both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions Physically demanding tasks including lifting, climbing, standing, walking, bending, and kneeling Exposure to potentially hazardous environments requiring strict adherence to safety procedures What We Offer Competitive pay Comprehensive benefits package, including: Medical insurance Life insurance Retirement plan Additional Information This position description outlines the general nature of the role and is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties or responsibilities.
