Job Description

Winton MFG Compost Works is currently seeking a reliable Diesel Mechanic/Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. This position performs routine maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and trucks, and fabricates and welds as needed. Our ideal candidate has experience with or is willing to learn to operate heavy equipment as well on an as needed basis. Why Winton MFG Compost Works? Winton is a local, family-owned business established in 2022. Winton MFG plays a critical role in the areas recycling infrastructure and sustainability efforts. With our composting facility in Leavenworth, Winton MFG is a local manufacturer providing green jobs in Chelan County. Winton MFG produces wholesome, nutrient-rich compost that is sold to businesses, governments and residents, ensuring consumers have access to locally produced, recycled products. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Maintain and repair trucks and heavy equipment Routine maintenance and rebuilds Fabricating and welding Operate safely and efficiently heavy equipment such as loaders, skid steers and excavators. Operate grinder and feedstock processing equipment. Operate portable and stationary screening equipment. Perform routine clean- up of work area on daily basis including daily maintenance on machines. Required Skills Must have knowledge of diesel/gas truck and heavy equipment repair Must have insurable Washington driver's license Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must Must interact effectively with all departments and divisions as a team Cheerful personality and easily adaptable Ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy Class B minimum CDL or the ability to obtain one Possess Journey level tools and box Education/Certification Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school Experience/Other History of good employment attendance. Fabricating and electrical experience a plus. Prefer 3-5 years of mechanic experience or attendance in a mechanic program. Physical Demands To successfully perform the essential duties of this position, an individual must be able to stand for 8 or more hours per day and frequently lift and carry objects up to 100 pounds.
