Job Description

About Us Water Babies is an established baby and toddler swim program with a long history and a structured, research-informed curriculum focused on water confidence, safety, and skill development. We're launching the program in Chicago's Western Suburbs and are in the early stages of building pool partnerships, enrolling families, and establishing how the swim school operates day to day. Unlike traditional swim schools, this role offers the chance to help launch a premium brand in Chicago, work closely with ownership, and grow into leadership as the program expands. Our Programs Water Babies (0-4 years) Parent-and-child classes focused on comfort in the water, early safety skills, and positive experiences for both children and caregivers. Swimvincibles (4+ years) A progression-based program for older children, building independence, technique, and water safety so families can continue with us as children grow. Role Summary This is a hands-on, instruction-first role. Swim instruction will be the main focus, especially early on. Because we're launching with a small team, this role will also include supporting customer communication, enrollment logistics, and some early outreach and operational tasks. The scope of the role will evolve over time, but instruction and the quality of the experience for families will remain central. What You'll Do Swim Instruction and Class Experience Teach Water Babies and Swimvincibles classes following the established curriculum. Create a safe, calm, and welcoming environment for children and parents. Communicate clearly with parents before and after classes. Manage class flow, transitions, safety checks, and equipment setup and breakdown. Provide coverage as needed to keep classes running consistently. Customer and Enrollment Support Respond to questions from families about classes, schedules, and enrollment. Help book families into appropriate classes. Support new families as they get started and learn how the program works. Share feedback about common questions or challenges that come up. Program and Startup Support Assist with administrative tasks connected to instruction and customer experience. Share observations about scheduling, pool setup, and class flow. Support early community outreach efforts such as local events or flyer distribution. Work closely with the owner to problem-solve and make improvements as the program takes shape. Because this is an early-stage program, responsibilities may shift over time. Priorities and expectations will be communicated clearly, and changes will be made intentionally. A Day in the Life A typical day might include teaching a few classes, setting up and breaking down equipment, answering questions from parents, and checking in with the owner about how classes went and what adjustments might be needed. Who This Role Is a Good Fit For Someone who enjoys working with young children and families. A swim instructor who values consistency, safety, and quality instruction. Someone comfortable working in a small program where not everything is fully built yet. A steady, reliable presence who communicates clearly and professionally. Someone interested in growing with a program over time, while staying hands-on. Qualifications and Requirements Comfort working with young children and communicating with parents. Ability to meet the physical demands of swim instruction. Reliable transportation and ability to travel to partner pools across Chicago's Western Suburbs. Availability for evenings and weekends as needed. We provide guidance and support to obtain required certifications. Prior certification is helpful but not required to apply.
