Job Description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Paralegal to support civil litigation matters in Chicago, Illinois. This role involves managing case documents, coordinating discovery activities, and helping attorneys prepare for hearings, depositions, and trial proceedings. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and confidence working with case management systems in a fast-paced legal environment.
Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain litigation files, ensuring pleadings, correspondence, evidence, and court-related documents are accurate and easy to access.
- Support attorneys throughout the discovery process by gathering records, tracking deadlines, and preparing materials for production and review.
- Assist with trial and hearing preparation by assembling exhibits, witness files, timelines, and other case support documents.
- Draft, format, and proofread legal documents, summaries, and case-related correspondence for attorney review.
- Monitor case activity and key dates using case management software to help keep matters on schedule and compliant with court requirements.
- Coordinate with internal teams, clients, experts, and outside counsel to obtain information and facilitate case progress.
- Conduct basic legal and factual research to support litigation strategy and document development. Requirements
- Prior experience supporting civil litigation matters in a paralegal capacity.
- Working knowledge of discovery procedures, document handling, and litigation support practices.
- Familiarity with trial preparation, including exhibit organization and case file assembly.
- Proficiency with case management software and standard legal document systems.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to prepare clear, accurate legal materials.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- High attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism.
