Blue Truck Studio is a small, design-focused architecture practice working on high-end custom homes and complex residential renovations in San Francisco and the Bay Area (and beyond!). Our work is rooted in clarity, proportion, and material expression—projects that are quiet but rigorous, with a strong emphasis on craft, detailing, and collaboration with clients and builders. We are looking for a Project Architect or Senior Designer to take a leading role in both design and project delivery.THE ROLE
This position is for someone who wants meaningful authorship in their work. You will collaborate closely with the Principal while taking ownership of projects—from early concept through construction. You'll lead small teams, engage directly with clients and consultants, and help shape both the design direction and the technical execution of each project.RESPONSIBILITIES DESIGN LEADERSHIP
Lead design development for custom residential projects from concept through construction Contribute to overall project direction in collaboration with the Principal Develop clear, compelling drawings, models, and presentations Mentor and support junior team membersPROJECT DELIVERY
Manage day-to-day project coordination, including consultants and internal team Lead production of drawing sets (SD through CD) with a high level of clarity and rigor Navigate permitting processes in San Francisco and surrounding jurisdictions Support construction administration, including site visits and coordination with contractorsQUALIFICATIONS
5-10+ years of experience in residential architecture Strong portfolio of built work (custom single-family preferred) Experience leading projects or major phases of projects Proficiency in Archicad or similar BIM platform (Revit experience welcome) Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and detailing Familiarity with San Francisco permitting and California building codes (Title 24) Licensure preferred but not requiredWHAT WE OFFER
