Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly organized Job Captain to lead production of construction documents for DSA-regulated K-12 and multifamily projects. The successful candidate will coordinate Revit models and consultant drawings, ensure DSA compliance and high-quality construction documentation, and guide junior staff through project phases from schematic design through permit and construction. This role balances technical production, code review, and project coordination to deliver accurate, buildable drawings on schedule.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead preparation and coordination of construction documents and permit sets for multifamily and K-12 projects, with emphasis on DSA compliance.
Develop and manage Revit models, sheets, families and BIM coordination; maintain standards and template files.
Coordinate and integrate consultant drawings (structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, landscape) into cohesive construction documentation.
Perform thorough QA/QC reviews of drawings, details, schedules and specifications to ensure constructability and compliance with DSA and local codes.
Prepare and manage DSA submittals, response packages and revisions; work with DSA reviewers to resolve comments.
Produce and maintain detailed drawing notes, schedules, and specifications for bid and construction phases.
Respond to RFIs, issue ASIs, and review/coordinate shop drawings during construction administration.
Mentor and direct junior staff and technicians; delegate drawing tasks and review deliverables for accuracy and completeness.
Attend client, consultant, and contractor coordination meetings; communicate design intent and document changes clearly.
Maintain project schedules and deliverable timelines, ensuring deadlines for permit submissions and construction documentation are met.
QualificationsBachelor's degree in Architecture or related field; Architectural license a plus.
Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a Job Captain or similar role producing construction documentation for multifamily and/or K12 projects.
Demonstrated experience with DSA processes and requirements, including preparing and responding to DSA review comments.
Advanced proficiency with Revit and BIM coordination; strong ability to produce and manage construction sets in a Revit environment.
Proficient in construction documentation, detailing, and specification coordination; strong understanding of construction methods and materials.
Working knowledge of California building codes (CBC), accessibility standards (ADA/Title 24), and other applicable regulations.
Proficient with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office suite, and common project delivery workflows.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational ability, and attention to technical detail.
Experience coordinating with consultants, contractors, and permitting authorities; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
A portfolio demonstrating construction documentation work for multifamily and/or K12 projects is preferred.
