Job Description
Overview:
A recognized practitioner and licensed Architect who possesses strong design and technical abilities and manages implementation documentation. Manages the firm's resources (people, processes and tools) and assignments with proficiency, fluency and aptitude. Teaches and mentors staff and effectively embodies and expresses the firm's values and mission.Responsibilities:
Leads consultants and technical team efforts to facilitate effective execution of project design and the delivery of implementation documentsWorks with PIC/PM in developing and managing the production schedule, including effectively defining and meeting deadlinesPrepares, reviews and coordinates implementation documents prior to issue, including verifying implementation documents conform to QA/QC and HKS standards, best practice and quality expectationsManages the technical resolution and coordination for a defined portion of a projectMay lead development of code analysis and confirms code and zoning requirements for assigned segment of project are metCoordinates design group interaction both internally and externally, including leading consultant team work sessionsMaintains open communication with client and provides guidance through projectsCoordinates with project managers, clients, public agencies, consultants and contractors to incorporate engineering systems, to respond to requests for information, clarifications and modifications and to obtain approvals and adjust scope of servicesPrepares client presentations and may present design concepts and drawingsExercises skills of persuasion and negotiation on critical issuesPerforms product research; assists project designers with materials and systems evaluationOversees appropriate application of products and materials available on the market and best practicesMaintains awareness of risk management for potential project issues and involves PIC/PM if neededLeads team meetings to discuss project issues, technical issues and coordination with other disciplinesAttends on-site visits, field reviews and project meetings and documents as appropriateResponsible for preparing and/or reviewing meeting minutes for consultant coordination meetingsTravel may be requiredQualifications:
Education and ExperienceAccredited professional degree in Architecture requiredTypically 8+ years of experience Licenses and CertificationsArchitectural registration requiredSustainable design accreditation preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Advanced- expert-level experience, knowledge or skillsIntermediate
- experience, knowledge or skills required to produce high-quality solutions or workBasic
- familiar with primary concepts or capabilities and may perform elementary functions depending on roleAdvanced skills in Revit, Bluebeam and Navisworks requiredIntermediate skills in Dynamo, Rhino, Grasshopper, Twinmotion, Enscape or other visualization tools requiredIntermediate experience in Illustrator and InDesign required; basic experience with Photoshop requiredAdvanced skills in MS Office Suite requiredIntermediate knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines requiredAdvanced knowledge of architectural building systems, materials, construction techniques, building codes, accessibility guidelines, QA/QC process requiredAdvanced knowledge and ability to research and incorporate into implementation documents requiredAdvanced experience with the entire project lifecycle, through post-occupancy requiredIntermediate ability to build and maintain client relationships requiredIntermediate presentation, graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas requiredIntermediate organizational skills for multiple concurrent projects requiredIntermediate ability to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing requiredIntermediate ability to problem solve and apply innovative solutions requiredIntermediate ability to collaborate collaboration in a team environment requiredAdvanced ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality required #LI-KT1 If you currently work for HKS, please submit your application via the Internal Careers Portal.
