The Position Parnagian Architects is seeking a talented and experienced Project Architect or Senior Architectural Designer with approximately 7-10 years of professional experience. This is a hands-on role for an architect or designer who combines strong design judgment with excellent technical and organizational abilities. The successful candidate should be comfortable working independently, managing multiple project responsibilities, and advancing work with limited day-to-day direction while remaining highly collaborative. The position will involve projects at multiple stages of development, from programming and conceptual design through construction documentation and construction administration. Because of the size of the practice, the role is broader than a conventional production position and offers meaningful responsibility, direct client and consultant interaction, and the opportunity to influence the evolution of the firm. As a small practice, we offer an unusually broad level of project involvement. Team members participate meaningfully in design, visualization, documentation, consultant coordination, client communication, and construction administration. This position provides an opportunity to work directly with the firm principal and take a significant role in the continued development of a growing design practice. Responsibilities Work directly with the firm principal to develop and execute the architectural vision for each project Advance projects through predesign, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, permitting, bidding, and construction administration Develop thoughtful and well-resolved architectural details consistent with the overall design intent Produce clear, accurate, coordinated, and constructible drawing sets using Revit Coordinate structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, landscape, and other project consultants Assist with zoning, building-code, accessibility, and regulatory research Communicate directly and professionally with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, and reviewing agencies Participate in client presentations and project meetings Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and contractor questions during construction Conduct site visits and document construction progress Manage project priorities, schedules, deliverables, and overlapping deadlines Contribute to the continued development of office standards, BIM workflows, project-management systems, and quality-control procedures Support the growth of the practice while maintaining a consistently high standard of design and documentation Qualifications Professional degree in architecture from an accredited program Approximately 7-10 years of relevant professional experience Significant experience with custom residential, hospitality, or similarly detailed design work Strong design portfolio demonstrating work from conceptual design through built execution Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite Experience with Vray, Enscape, or comparable visualization software Experience producing and coordinating complete construction-document sets Experience with specification writing Strong knowledge of architectural detailing, building assemblies, materials, and construction methods Working knowledge of applicable building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting processes Experience coordinating engineering and specialty consultants Construction administration and field experience Strong graphic, written, and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and proactively move projects forward Ability to organize and prioritize work across multiple active projects Professional licensure is preferred but not required The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a thoughtful, motivated, and technically capable architect or designer who is passionate about architecture and values design quality at every scale. This person should enjoy the range and responsibility of working in a small studio and be equally comfortable developing a design concept, resolving a construction detail, coordinating with consultants, communicating with a client, or addressing an issue in the field. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, communicates clearly, anticipates project needs, and understands that strong architecture depends on both compelling ideas and disciplined execution. This is an opportunity for an experienced professional to become an important part of a growing practice, assume meaningful project responsibility, and help shape the firm's next phase.
